It’s no good having the perfect Halloween costume and then doing your makeup like you would for a normal night out (though it might look a bit prettier….) You don’t want to look like a perfect fright either. You still want to look beautiful and emphasize your eyes with your makeup and look just a little bit intimidating for this one special night of the year.
By planning your makeup, getting any products you need and practicing a bit before the day, you can look absolutely stunning at Halloween parties and knock them dead but not in an evil way…
As Refinery29.com says with their slide show of three special makeup looks for Halloween
“For a legitimately killer Halloween look, you need more than just an awesome costume. You also need to put a little bit of thought into your fright night beauty routine, if you really want to turn heads at that costume party. To help you get inspired before the big day (with plenty of time left to scour supplies), we’ve tapped MAC’s masterful Senior Makeup Artist Victor Cembellin to create some awe-inspiring (and entirely convincing!) looks for a roster of Halloween characters that will be a welcome change in a sea of Snooki and Charlie Sheen wannabes.”
The characters created and shown in detail for the MAC Halloween makeup are
- a dangerous and sultry looking Black Swan with amazing blue and black winged eyes. This is not a look that everyone can carry off but if you can, you will really set the party alight
- Nicki Minaj (according to the Daily Mail, #4 on Google’s 12-Most searched Halloween costumes for 2011) A bubble-gum-y look with pink lips and cheeks, pale face and eyes defined with thick black eyeliner above and blue eye shadow below
- Daphne Guinness, who has transformed herself into a style icon. A great Halloween look with smoky eyes, sculptured cheeks and strong burgundy lips
Each of the looks in the 30 slide show are detailed with the exact products used and a close up of how they are applied so you should be able to recreate the looks for yourself. You’ll also find some help here with tips on applying eyeliner and contouring your face.
You don’t necessarily have to buy all the products either. If you’re on a limited budget and bought all the MAC products listed you might not even have the funds to have a night out and wearing your makeup at home alone on Halloween is not recommended even if it would stun the “Trick or Treaters” who call.
You will probably have some similar products (like black eye liner and pink lipstick) in your make up bag already or look for some budget drugstore lines especially if you think you will only use the products one time (very likely in this case!) Remember makeup expires so don’t be tempted to save your purchases for next year, even if love the way you knock their socks off at the Halloween party in 2011!
