L’Oreal Wrinkle Decrease Collagen Eye Filler

L’Oreal Wrinkle Decrease Collagen Eye Filler is one of my holy grail products that I make sure never to run out of. I’ve been using it for years, ever since it first came out.

I like to have a few tubes of this LOreal eye cream stashed away at all times.....

I had a panic when L’Oreal brought out their under eye roller. For a few months all I could find in my local stores was this brand new product.

The L’Oreal collagen micro vibration eye cream was everywhere and my holy grail product was no where to be found.

I almost tried the eye roller vibration thingy (it may even have been great) but I still had my stash of original eye cream and luckily (and perhaps due to popular demand) L’Oreal collagen eye filler returned to the shelves!

Now and again, also to my horror, L’Oreal add an ingredient and the packaging sports a “New” label (as it does at the moment) and my heart sinks wondering what they have done to mess up the formula.

The problem is that I have sensitive eyes so there are very few eye creams that I can stand and the ones I don’t seem to be allergic to in other brands seem to have no effect whatsoever on my eye area.

Ingredients List : Oh My!   How on earth I’m not allergic to this lot is anyone’s guess. Whatever L’Oreal put in this under eye cream seems to be OK though and that is even more weird as it has some pretty powerful sounding ingredients in it including the darling of the dermatologists Hyaluronic acid and collagen in the form of “biospheres”. (Hubbie smirks when he reads terms like “biospheres” designed to blind us cosmetic purchasers with science. I blame his Genetics Phd and I don’t let it put me off a good product LOL).

Anyway, this little miracle product is supposed to reduce crow’s feet (literally be a wrinkle filler) and brighten dark circles. It has an illuminating ingredient with light reflecting particles which work on the circles though I have to say I don’t rely on it for that. (I have another favorite for disguising too many late nights or early mornings but I’ll go into that another time).

It’s probably the collagen biospheres (whether biospheres is a real word or not) and hyaluronic acid in this L’Oreal eye cream that help with the lines. Apparently the biospheres inflate up to 9 times their volume to plump up the skin around your wrinkles and the hyaluronic acid locks water into the skin.

Whatever is doing it, I just know that ever since I used this collagen filler cream morning and evening I haven’t worried about the crow’s feet that were starting to develop. I’ve just turned 50 so a few lines can be forgiven but I think my eyes look younger than they did years ago.

The skin around my eyes feels good too when I put this on – soft and smooth and never uncomfortably dry even in winter despite central heating and harsh weather taking their toll. You are only supposed to use it on crows feet and under the eyes (the problem areas) but I use it over the whole of my eyelid, on the outer corner and below the eye as a result of how good it feels.

The packaging says the cream is an ideal base to apply makeup. I find that is true if you want color to be blended in (as in the case of concealer under the eyes) but I don’t think it works on the lids so well as a proper eye makeup primer. Use a drop of foundation or a dusting of powder over the eye cream if you use it there. I find eye shadow and liner tends to wear off too quickly especially if I’m trying to get ready quickly and make up my eyes immediately after applying the cream.

What I do like

• fewer lines
• softer moisturized skin around the eyes
• no tears formula, non-perfumed too
• easy application of under eye concealer

What I don’t like

The price! This cream comes in a tiny tube that costs an annoying amount of money from my budget every time I shell out for it. Last time I bought some it cost about $18 on special in my local drugstore in the UK though I think it’s cheaper in the US (I must stock up next time I go) It’s still worth every penny though and there’s no way I’d buy a cheaper cream just to save a few pennies at the cost of performance.

Also, having said it’s expensive, the tiny tube lasts longer than you think as you need very little to do a whole eye. My current tube has been on the go for weeks.

You can see that it looks like it’s nearly finished, but from past experience, it will probably last weeks longer so I can’t really complain.

Also once you can’t squeeze any more out, you can snip open the tube and get quite a bit more out.
